DUAL-SMU Technology & World Change Competition

DUAL DS is pleased to announce DUAL's sponsorship of The DUAL-SMU Technology and World Change Competition organized by DUAL DS and SMU.

DUAL has identified education as a major area to contribute to regional development and also the Tsunami redevelopment effort. To that end, we are encouraging the contribution of innovative content that fosters progress of emerging regions and is practical and useful to the lives and needs of developing communities.

In addition to this contest, we urge DUAL alumni and volunteers to generously contribute content to this online library for the use of NGOs, citizens, organizations and the civic community which can utilize and apply the content to regional development and growth.

The DUAL-SMU Competition aims to foster understanding of technology’s potential for contributing to innovative life, economic deveopment, and social good and these goals:-

1. To conceive innovative and exciting applications of emerging and other technologies, and/or ways in which their business potential and value added to society can be realized.

2. To develop a body of technology case studies to help improve the understanding of how technology can be better developed in business and society. To improve the diffusion of such knowledge, in ways consistent with the DUAL member universities’ goals to advance knowledge, education, and social well-being.

3. To develop the creative thinking potential of students, and help further their problem-solving abilities by combining the educative environment with business and public problems in innovative and socially meaningful ways.

4. To facilitate a platform for networking, mentoring, and development for student project groups, and to provide opportunities for further developing or commercializing good student project topics with external members of the business community, such as the DUAL alumni.

Winning entries will be on DUAL DS' Content Library, and upcoming events featuring shortlisted and winning entries will be announced shortly to allow DUAL alumni the opportunity to engage winning and shortlisted teams and their ideas.
